Research Fellow - Faculty of Arts Design and Social Sciences
Applications are invited for a 15-month fixed term research fellow working on an ESRC-funded research project entitled: Supporting the interviewing and legal representation of crime victims and suspects using digital communication methods data-driven approaches to Covid-19. This would be an exciting opportunity for someone interested in issues of policing, law, psychology, criminology, technology and human rights during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The role is full-time for a fixed period of 15 months from February 2021 and will involve remote working with some limited UK travel (where possible) to support project interviews and project objectives.
The position is part of the UKRI’s Rapid Response call for short-term projects addressing and mitigating the health, social, economic, cultural and environmental impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak. The RA will support a number of work packages which apply an interdisciplinary mixed-methods approach to the assessment of remote versus face-to-face interviews together with the technical and operational challenges of the key approaches deployed to address the Covid-19 pandemic.
The candidate will work with Professor Gavin Oxburgh and other members of the research team including researchers from Goldsmiths College University of London, University of Sunderland and De Montfort University, Leicester.
The ideal candidate will have or be working towards the completion of a PhD in psychology, criminology, law or another relevant discipline. Knowledge of police interviewing and associated legal safeguards is essential. Knowledge of, and an interest in, technology is desirable. Previous experience of working on interdisciplinary research projects and experience in qualitative research are desirable.
